About the Journal

The Journal of Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (JIST) is the official publication of Debre Tabor University. It is an open-access, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal dedicated to advancing evidence-based knowledge across diverse domains, including health and biomedical sciences, social sciences, technology, and agriculture. JIST provides a platform for rigorous scholarship that fosters innovation, equity, and sustainable development.

Aims and Scope

JIST welcomes original contributions in the form of research articles, reviews, and scholarly communications across, but not limited to, the following fields:

  • Medicine and Health Sciences: Public and global health, clinical sciences, biomedical sciences, health policy, systems and equity, quality improvement, healthcare education, and workforce development.
  • Agriculture: Crop science, animal and veterinary science, food security, and sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Engineering and Technology: Applied engineering, information technology, and innovations in science and technology.

Article Types

JIST accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review, ensuring anonymity between reviewers and authors. Each article is evaluated by at least two independent experts and overseen by an Associate or Section Editor, with final decisions made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Manuscripts are assessed based on: Relevance to the journal’s scope, originality and scientific merit, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation and structure, and methodological rigor and statistical accuracy. Editorial decisions are impartial and based solely on academic quality and relevance.

Open Access Policy
JIST is committed to the principles of open science. It operates under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This allows anyone to freely read, download, copy, and share the work for non-commercial purposes, provided the original authors and source are correctly cited.
